Divine Mercy prayer center is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that was born after the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Institute of Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix -Ggogonya in 1998. Among the activities that preceded the Golden celebration was a popular retreat that was prepared by the sisters in which the main facilitator was the late Fr. Joseph Bill a renown Indian priest for envagelization and renewal missions. Fr. Bill conducted a retreat at Ggogonya in early 1998 in which people of God experienced healing and other fruits of the Holy Spirit. After the retreat, members of the public continuously flocked the premises of Ggogonya for adoration, praising and thanksgiving and in many of their visits they continued to experience the mercy of God.
During the year 2006, the General Council then led by Sr. Maria Lawrence Namata who was the Superior General, decided to officially recognize and accord special care for the overwhelming numbers who found Ggogonya as a fountain of God’s Mercy. They then sought permission from the Arch-Diocese and His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga responded very positively appointing a full chaplain in the names of Fr. Emmanuel Ssemambo to offer spiritual assistance to the people of God. The center was officially opened on 11/May/2009 and it celebrates DIVINE MERCY day as its feast day. The center has since then grown and grown and it continues to expand. Divine mercy center is located about 200metres from Kawuku on Kampala-Entebbe highway, bordering Ggogonya Farm and directly opposite the Novitiate. It is a very spacious and accommodative place to the masses that come over to experience the Mercy of God.
