HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE SCHOOL:
St. Theresa Kisubi Girls’ primary School is a catholic founded school for both day and boarding pupils. This school was started way back in 1915 by the Sisters of the congregation of Our lady of Africa popularly known as the White Sisters. In 1971, the administration of the school was handed over to the African Sisters of congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix (Ggogonya), who are still running it.
It located in Wakiso District, 14 miles from Kampala, and 8km from Entebbe International Airport. Our Ordinary is the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese.
OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDERS:
The major objective for starting such a school was to help the girl child learn how to look after a home and some basics in Catechism. Later on, formal education was considered as an urgent need to the young girls.
We have a population of 991 pupils, 34 teachers, and 40 members of the support staff. The enrolment stands as follows:
NUMBER OF PUPILS PER CLASS IN 2014
To date, we are still keeping the objectives of the founders and it is going to be 100 years in 2015, since the existence of the school. Hopefully, the celebrations will take place in November 2015. Quite a lot of renovations have been done and one can think that the majority of the buildings have just been built. Tribute goes to the School Management Committee, the parents and a good number of friends to the school.
The school follows the national curriculum but the major subjects are English, Mathematics, Science Social studies not forgetting that we embrace the thematic curriculum in P.1 to P.3 and transition from P.4. onwards. In addition to that we emphasize co-curricular activities more so the self – reliant projects like gardening, cattle rearing, piggery rabbitary, goats and poultry.
We hope to start on the renovation and extension of the staffroom / main hall during the second term’s holidays.
We also hope to renovate the administration block before the centenary celebrations next year.
We always strive for the best results.
