Mary Queen of the Apostles -Amudat
Mary Queen of the Apostles -Amudat community is one of our communities opened in the recent past. It was opened in 2008 by the General council answering the call of the then Bishop of Moroto Diocese the Rt. Rev. Bishop Henry Ssentongo (Now Emeritus) , to come and evangelize the people of God through formal education specifically in Kalas Girls Primary and catechism, so that they embrace sacramental life. The Superiors welcomed this missionary call as it is directly rooted in our purpose. The first sisters arrived on the 25th January 2008. The main work was teaching in Kalas Girls primary school and teaching catechism at the parish as well as pastoral work in villages.

To Train the future mothers of the nation and empower them to live healthy and responsible lives
OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHOOL
- To teach girl child at primary level and complete school.
- To teach catechism in school & village.
- To make people aware of their Christian values and responsibilities
- To help people to have self -help projects to uplift their standard of living and reduce poverty
LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL/CONVENT:
Amudat Convent /Kalas girls primary school is found in the Southern deanery of Pokot land Moroto Diocese, Karamoja region in the Eastern part of Uganda about 250 Miles from the Capital-Kampala .This area boarders the western part of Kenya and is majorly habited by the Pokot people who are also in Kenya. The Southern deanery is located in Amudat District and the school is near the District Headquarters. From Mbale town, one branches off Sironko road to the junction of Kapuchorwa then proceed to Namaalu road viaNakapiripiriti District and finally to Amudat/Kalas primary school.
The school is headed by Sr. Magdalene Nantongo and has a staff of twelve members with a support staff of eight members. Since the Sisters took over the administration, Kalas Girls’ Primary School has registered an increase in the number of pupils from 300 to 700. The parents and their daughters have picked interest in education and the performance in Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) is also showing positive trends. Many girls have started joining Secondary level of education
FUTURE PLAN FOR THE Community:
- To acquire land on which to construct a Guest House and Domestic school
- To have project for rearing animals and poultry for easy feeding of the school
- To create a home for the Disabled children
