MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF

IHMR SOCIAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Social services can be categorized as below:

Social services are a range of public services provided by governmental or private organizations. These public services aim at creating more effective organizations, build stronger communities, and promote equity and opportunity. “So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

  • Social services include the benefits and facilities such as education, food subsidies, health care, job training and subsidized housing, adoption, community management, policy research, and lobbying.

  • Social services help people to live with neither discrepancy nor discrimination;  “The rich and the poor have this in common: the Lord made them both.” Proverbs 22:2. They allow them to work, shop, attend school and places of faith, participate in leisure time activities, take care of themselves, their homes, etc. The services aim to maintain the highest possible quality and dignity in their lives. Social services are provided to individuals, families, as well as to groups of people.

  • Social service providers may serve the needs of children and families, elderly, the poor or homeless, immigrants, veterans, the mentally ill, the handicapped, victims of rape or domestic violence, and persons dependent on alcohol or drugs.
